It challenges the percept...。未来的地下世界，其实就是一个基地，在这里，到处是冰冷的监视器。生活在这里的人们，全被剃光了头，没有名字，只有一个工作编号，每天从事繁重的劳动——集体劳动。主人公——代号THX1138（罗伯特•杜瓦尔 Robert Duvall 饰），就是这里数以百万计的普通一员，他在女性室友的启发下，停止服用了每天发给的药物。于是，他僵化的思想开始复苏，开始对他的女性室友产生了一种特殊感觉。当两人发生关系并被判处强奸罪时，思想彻底醒悟到他开始了漫长的逃亡之路。。全片由《麻雀趣事》、《有口难言》、《圆谎记》三个独立故事构成：《麻雀趣事》通过上海顾客与广东伙计对话，探讨麻将牌的历史起源；《有口难言》聚焦民国初年女牙医与助手离奇死亡案件，受害者口中发现半截舌头；《圆谎记》描写元朗乡绅马大哈在英女皇访港期间因谎言陷入困境。。
