姚家顶梁柱走了后，老太太秦金枝独自一人将其几个儿女拉扯大。普天之下就数中国的父母最累心，本该到了享清福的年纪，可是孩子们依然让老人家念兹在兹。细数这些孩子，有的在子弟中学当老师苦熬年头评职称，有的是恨不得接下大工程的建筑承包商，有的在机关做着升官梦，有的开出租风里来雨里去挣着辛苦钱，有的在工厂上班却发着财迷疯，有的则为了美好未来苦读研究生，有的则先天智障成了妈妈心头最大的挂念。孩子们各自成家立业，有着各自的苦辣酸甜。虽然手心手背都是肉，只不过龙生九子各有不同，加上枕边风吹着，谁都有自己的小九九。。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。王达龙 (曾江) 二十年前由於在港被黑白两道追杀，往多伦多成为黑市居民，一住二十年都没身份证，他在当地加入黑帮，二十年间靠做黑市赌档赚了不少钱。 他二十年未回港，没有尽父亲责任，其女儿王秀明 (邵美琪) 根本不当他是父亲，对他恨之入骨，但由於受其亡母所托，於是到多伦多见父亲一面。 龙为见女儿，买了间大屋，并为了给她一笔钱，参与了一项白粉交易，但却事败了，被警方捣破，龙更因此事出卖了黑帮头子Tony (骆应钧) ，因此被Tony追杀。 龙在第一次见女儿时，即被Tony所杀，但相机却拍下了Tony杀人的证据，於是Tony追杀秀明及龙的手下富仔 (郭晋安) ，富仔与秀明因此亡命天涯，与Tony展开一连串恶斗，最後富仔与Tony都在此战死去。。
