已无法从地底采取化石燃料的世界，克鲁森大陆。人们为使万物移动所“选择”的动力能源，是寄宿在人们手中的“力量”。从地底中所采取的“石英”，无论力量的强弱谁都可以对其下达命令，人们将这种力量称之为“魔力”。这样的世界中“没有魔力”的稀有者莱卡特，在某一天，受到了昔日的朋友同时也是现任国王的荷之尔召见，向王都前去的莱卡特将在那里得知令人惊讶的事实……过去一同学习，并建立起坚毅的友情的莱卡特、杰斯、荷之尔、西宫4人，将被战乱的漩涡毫不留情的吞没。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
