Centers on the Kilcher family and their community outside Homer, Alaska. Led by patriarch Atz Kilcher, singer Jewel's father, the family have lived on their land for three generations. The show also focuses on the homesteaders who live by the Kilchers, including, Brother Roadkill, who eats animals lying dead on the side of the road.。梦佳为躲避丈夫家暴，在新居里意外接通过去住户茹玫打来的电话。起初两人凭藉对时空来电的好奇，加上彼此都为家暴受害者，关系一度升温。直到茹玫杀掉了对自己家暴的丈夫。茹玫还认为自己被梦佳抛弃，多番纠缠未果，开始发疯似的报复梦佳。。
