在东京都某公寓内，住着父母双双去世的两姐妹笠原信子（小池荣子饰）和笠原祥子（北川景子饰）。信子在某报社工作，全力支持着刚刚走上社会不久的妹妹。这一天，信子前往东北旅行，谁知竟一去不回。倍感震惊和悲伤的祥子发现，姐姐去世的地方并非她本来要去的目的地。就在此时，姐姐的同事吉并亮一（向井理饰）登门拜访，他也向祥子说出了自己的一些疑惑，于是两人开始接班调查。此后不久，祥子接替姐姐进入报社，在此期间，名叫町田知枝（酒井若菜饰）自杀身亡，死后竟留给祥子关于信子之死的一些信息。越来越多的谜团驱使祥子向黑暗的深渊走去…… 本片根据日本著名推理作家松本清张的原作改编。。A German woman goes to the town on the Red Sea where her Arab lover has just died.
